POLITICS: PLANTATION RACES GET NASTY

It had to happen.

With so much at stake, even dull, lackluster, uninteresting Plantation's gone for nasty campaign advertising.

While I missed capturing a photo, Mayoral candidate Jerry Fadgen's signs were vadalized between Broward Blvd. and NW 5th St on University Drive.

But the mailers are certainly out there.

Group 1's Lynn Stoner is the target of this one:

Really now?

Shame on you Ms. Stoner.

But the mailer misses an entirely larger point.

Stoner registered to vote in January 1976, but rarely cast a vote until November of 2004, which is 28 years after registering.

She didn't cast another vote until the Presidential Primary in 2008, which was three and a half years or four elections later.

Double shame on you.

And then there's this one in the Mayor's race:

We know who she "says."

Think "family business."

Think of "her" along with Mayor Rae Carol as successful killers of a proposed middle school on the Plantation/Sunrise border.

The one school that would have completely relieved the current overcrowding of middle school students in district 6.

Think of "her," the ex-school board employee who attempted on numerous occasions to kill district 6's high school FFF because it would take too many white kids out of Plantation High.

Yeah, that candidate.

Then there's Constance "Connie" Freund in Group 3 with a voting record almost as bad as Lynn Stoner's.

A sporatic record of voting skipping election after election.

Then a huge gap of four years from November 2004 to August, 2008, four years.

She did, however, better Lynn Stoner by voting in two Plantation council elections since 2000.

And finally there's Group 2's Jeptha "Jeff" Holness.

Holness did not register to vote unitl October 2008 and voted in the November election.

He also did not vote in the March 2009 election.

I'm sure the term doesn't really fit, but the word carpetbagger comes to mind.

The results of Tuesday's election should be interesting...
